Classroom Information
STANDARDS BASED GRADING & GRADING SCALE:
The instructional program of Highland Elementary includes the following grade scale for grades K-5.
M –Meets Expectations
D – Developing Expectations
U – Unsatisfactory Progress
HOMEWORK:
•Homework will be assigned as needed to reinforce lessons and in-class work.
•Students will be given class time to work on most assignments. Any assignments not completed in class will be expected to be finished as homework.
•Students who use their class time wisely should not have more than thirty minutes of homework.
ASSIGNMENT BOOKS:
•Students should record all assignments in their assignment books each day.
LATE WORK POLICY:
Students are expected to have their assignments completed and ready to turn in at the beginning of each day. Assignments that are not available at the time they are called for are considered “LATE”. Late assignments may be turned in before the beginning of class the following day.
GRADES:
Grades are posted on the school website so parents do not have to wait until report card time to check student progress. If at any time you have questions about your student’s progress please let me know.
TESTS:
•Notice will be given for all chapter and unit tests, students are expected to write test dates in their assignment books.
•Quizzes will be given periodically throughout the chapters, however they will not always be announced in advanced.

BEHAVIOR SYSTEM:
Students are expected to follow all classroom rules. Students will be rewarded for following rules with special activities throughout the year. I will keep you informed through email or a phone call of any issues that are causing a problem in the classroom.
