I was born in Michigan, lived in Texas when I was very young, grew up in Cincinnati, and have lived in the Columbus area for the last eighteen years.
I went to college in Kentucky for a year before transferring to Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education (1st – 8th grade) from this school. Upon graduating, I started teaching sixth grade at a private school in Granville, Ohio. After my first year of teaching I went back to graduate school and received a Masters of Education in school counseling from the University of Dayton. After being a K-12 guidance counselor for three years I decided to move out of the private school setting and into the public schools. This decision let me back into the classroom (which is why I get to spend my days with you!).
I have an adorable son named Collin. He is almost eleven years old and will be in 5th grade this year. (You will hear many Collin stories throughout the year!) He is a joy, he has a mind of his own, and is equally the sweetest boy around. He loves lacrosse, swimming, soccer, and basketball. Currently his favorite thing is ANYTHING having to do with lacrosse.
Some of my favorite things to do outside of school are spend time with my family, travel, Thirty-One gifts, and going boating .
If at any time you have questions or concerns please let me know. I am so excited about the year ahead. I have high expectations for all that we are going to accomplish during the 2015-2016 school year!
Blessings,
Ms. Howard
